About Future Radio

About Us

Future Radio is a community radio station for Norwich. We are based in West Norwich and are funded by EEDA and the NELM Development Trust (North Earlham, Larkman and Marlpit).

Future radio is part of Future Projects (formerly known as The NR5 Project), a community based arts, media and education charity. Future provides school inclusion projects for young people aged 13 to 16 years, post 16 support, music, media and radio training, education films/DVD’s and much more.

Since 1999 the membership within Future Projects has increased from 40 to over 1500 members. Many other volunteers have been involved with broadcasts for Future Radio since we began broadcasting in 2004.

Community Radio

After a number of short-term trial licenses, Future Radio began broadcasting on a full time basis in August 2007. Community radio licences are intended for social gain and community empowerment.

We aim to use radio for:

  • An engagement tool for the local and wider communities

  • An education and training resource

  • An information and advice service

  • A platform for local talent

Mission Statement

We promote social inclusion in its broadest sense, freedom of expression and the dissemination of information for the benefit of our local and wider communities. We use music of all genres to promote racial and social harmony, embrace social, cultural and economic diversity and promotes tolerance, understanding and democracy.
