Meet Sarah and Alana Future Radio's New Interns
As part of our degrees at Huddersfield University, Sarah and I have just started as interns here at Future Radio.
What do we do?
We have only been here a short while but already we have learnt so much and been given lots of responsibilities. So far we are getting on with keeping up with Future Radios schedule, voicing the Events Guides (that are broadcast on the Breakfast and Drive shows), editing shows, doing a People’s Playlist, helping out with Norwich Today and Business Life Show, and of course making the occasional cup of tea as well.
Why did we choose Future Radio?
Sarah: I chose Future Radio as I enjoyed the Radio module and wanted to see what it was like, and placement was the perfect opportunity. After hearing about all the different responsibilities it sounded awesome.
Alana: I chose Future Radio, as I wanted something with varied roles and avenues.
Thought Future Radio was a great prospect as I am interested in the media industry. The station offered something with plenty of opportunities to learn new things, and really incorporated interns as part of the team.
Thoughts on Norwich?
Sarah: It’s definitely different. Contrary to some negative opinions from the locals at a popular pub in the centre, I think it’s a pretty decent city.
Alana: Already familiar with the city as I am from Suffolk, happy to be spending more time in a different place, especially somewhere where there is so much going on.
Favourite thing at Future Radio so far?
Sarah: I’m quite enjoying everything, really. From shadowing to editing, creating content. This is all the kind of stuff I like doing, which makes coming here a lot easier and doesn’t make it feel like work.
Alana: I have enjoyed meeting lots of new people, hearing great music all the time, and sitting in on the many shows especially the Sight of Music show as films and film music particularly interest me, (although the live shows still terrify me!).
Looking Forward to?
Sarah: I’m looking forward to the point in time where I know what’s going on for the most part. Besides that, I’m interested to see where everything progresses from here and if I ever get around to making my idea of a radio show a reality.
Alana: I’m excited about spending more time in the city, immersing myself in the local music scene, and being a competent member of the Future Radio team.
