Best of the Chest Saturday 13th August 2011

By Mike Stonard - Posted on 13 August 2011

Some of the highlights of the week's Community Chest shows. This week:

  • Tim MacWilliam talks to local woman Jessica Linley who was Miss England 2010 - a law undergraduate who never expected to win the title - about how it all happened to her, how it's affected her life, and her views on beauty pageants and feminism
  • Mike Stonard speaks to Dr Will Bowden of the Caister Roman Project about the 2011 excavation at the former Roman town of Venta Icenorum just outside Norwich
  • From Friday's show with Alison Turner, Future Radio gives a rousing sendoff to Station Manager Tom Buckham who is leaving after eight years to travel the world with his partner.  Tom set up the station from scratch and led its development into one of the most successful and highly regarded community radio stations in England. Members of the radio team pay tribute while Tom shares memories of eight "magical" years at Future Radio
