Producers

Are you looking for a Volunteer experience to launch a career in public service or research? Join Future Radio's team of producers.

Norwich’s community station, Future Radio is looking to expand its speech content and we need new people interested in helping shape what we broadcast to the community.

The primary role of the producer is to research themes, find guests, book them for on-air appearance and prepare briefs for presenters. But, above all, as a producer, you will have the opportunity to develop themes and determine the direction of an individual programme or Future Radio's speech output as a whole to ensure that issues important to the community are addressed. Many producers also appear on air and have the opportunity to develop their studio skills. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in expanding their grasp of both local and global issues and expanding their communication skills.

Experience as a producer offers great foundations for a range of careers:

  • journalism
  • local government
  • social services
  • civil service
  • media
  • marketing and advertising
  • event organisation
  • research and financial sector

You will also be able to develop your skills in a variety of areas including research, communication and computing. We use the latest online communication technology and also provide training in audio/video editing and podcast production. Many of our current speech programmes are available at

We are hoping you will be able to help us with the development of new programmes including:

  • local politics and policy
  • local history
  • community news
  • education and learning
  • new writing
  • community and neighbourhood profiles

We are also open to new programmes to help us fulfil our mission of representing the diversity of our local community. We are further seeking production support for our flagship magazine show Community Chest running from Monday to Friday 10:00 - 13:00.

Expected time commitment is between 6 and 12 hours a week depending on the programme. Work can be done from home or at Future Radio.
