Listen out each month on Future Radio for True Stories Live

True Stories Live is the intimate monthly storytelling evening, founded at Norwich Arts Centre that has grown to become a regular sell out success. It has toured to great acclaim to London, around the country and to the Edinburgh Book Festival. It simply and gloriously allows ordinary people tell their own anecdotal stories to a warm and friendly audience, relating to a different theme each time. Norwich based scriptwriter, poet and performer Molly Naylor, the other member of the team, runs workshops to coach prospective storytellers and compéres the events.

Popular storytelling event True Stories Live and Future Radio have made an exclusive arrangement that will see the community radio station broadcasting stories recorded at the monthly Norwich Arts Centre event.

On the five days leading up to each month’s True Stories Live, Future Radio will air a story from a previous event. There’ll also be an omnibus edition on the day of the show.

The first stories will be on the station between 23 and 27 April with the omnibus on 29 April, the day of True Stories Live’s Women of the World special event. Following the broadcasts the stories will available to listen to again via Future’s Mixcloud channel and website www.futureradio.co.uk and on the True Stories Live and Norwich Arts Centre websites, www.truestorieslive.co.uk  www.norwichartscentre.co.uk.

True Stories Live co-creator and Producer Lucy Farrant said ‘The arrangement with Future opens up all sorts of possibilities for us – and gives our audiences more chances to hear our excellent storytellers. Future Radio is exactly the right outlet to broadcast excerpts from our sell out nights. It’s a true community resource that continues to be a great supporter of the arts in Norwich and beyond’.

Kate Roma, Station Coordinator at Future Radio said ‘We’re thrilled to be able to give listeners a taste of True Stories Live. It’s such a fun and inclusive event – I’m a regular attender myself and after initial nerves also thoroughly enjoyed telling my own personal stories.’
