About the Show
Where in the World aims to bring you a mix of music from beyond the popular artists of the UK and the USA. We will delve into many African nations, Latin America, from Cuba, Columbia, Mexico and beyond. There are some gems to be found in Europe, Portuguese Fado, Scandinavian Folk, Balkan beats. The Middle East and beyond has it’s own musical cultures. We will bring you music from the 1960s to the present day. My playlist will be drawn from personal experiences, my music collection, WOMAD music festival, Songlines magazine and suggestions from listeners are very welcome.
Meet Your Hosts
Phil Hinchley
I was born in Norfolk, did my schooling in Old Buckenham, listening to the Beatles and Pirate Radio. Then on to Kings Lynn Technical College, listening to Carole King and King Crimson. I exchanged Norfolk to find fame and fortune in London, but found neither! But did get to see Pink Floyd and Bob Marley while there. Then on to Cambridge to pursue a career in sales, and life on the road. At 33 I returned to Norfolk, then with with my late wife and 2 sons, now I have 4 grandchildren, a partner and 4 step children. Hearing Radio Caroline as a boy set me on a lifetime of radio listening, so joining Future Radio seems a fortunate and natural progression.
